About the lecture
A horse’s oral health is a crucial but often underestimated part of its welfare, performance, and rideability/drivability. During the lecture, Christine explains how problems in the mouth can affect the horse’s behavior, movement patterns, and interaction with the driver/rider—sometimes without being obvious at first glance.
The lecture covers, among other things:
- How oral health affects the horse’s well-being and performance
- Common problems in the horse’s mouth and how they manifest
- The relationship between teeth, bit, bridle, and work
- Preventive oral care and the importance of regular check-ups
- Horse welfare from a veterinary medical perspective
Christine Levring is a licensed veterinarian and equine odontologist with extensive experience and advanced training in equine dentistry and oral health. She runs Veterinärbesöket in Malmö and works daily with examinations, treatment, and advice regarding the horse’s mouth, teeth, and bits—always with the horse’s welfare in focus. She is active in international veterinary dental networks and leads an international bit group of experts that aims to influence regulations and spread knowledge about injury-free bitting worldwide in the future.
